Frizz Control

Tips on how to achieve tamed frizz-free hair for blowouts or air dry hair styles.

Double cleanse, massaging the lather at the root working the shampoo down to the ends. Squeeze water out gently. Condition starting at the ends working your way up the hair. Comb or use wet brush to make sure hair is evenly saturated. Clip up or use a shower cap to allow the conditioner to absorb for 3-5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Once out of the shower, gently squeeze the hair in a blotting motion with a towel to absorb excess water. To prevent roughing the cuticle up or breakage, avoid rubbing the hair with the towel or wringing the hair tightly.  Apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner or detangler and use a wet brush or comb to evenly saturate. By applying moisture to the hair, the hair will be less likely to be affected by the humidity. The hair can be pulled up into a turban towel or gently wrapped in a bun with a towel scrunchie to absorb the excess water (if your hair dries quickly, you can skip this step).

Select the next step and tips based on desired results.

For natural air dried hair comb through a moisturizing styling cream, whipped mousse, or gel. Evenly saturate the hair, paying additional attention to your frizz prone areas. If needed apply a bit more product in that area. Scrunch the hair up for a textured look or comb hair down for a softer bend.

All blowouts are done on damp hair for longer lasting frizz free results. Rough drying is not recommended since it can dry the hair without sealing down the cuticle. If time is limited use low heat and low/medium speed setting dry the root only avoiding the high frizz zones around the hairline. When using a hairdryer attach the nozzle. This will concentrate the air flow ensuring the hair in that section is drying at an even rate sealing down the cuticle. Warm up the brush using the dryer before starting the first section.

  • For a voluminous blowout apply volumizing styling product focusing at the root and working it down brush or comb through. Section off the hair saving your crown for last. Once at the crown blowout the hair in the opposite direction you want it to lay. A vented small to medium round brush is best.

  • For a sleek blowout apply a smoothing cream, balm, or serum applying on the ends and working the product towards the root.

Start sectioning off the hair working from the nape up to the crown. A bigger round brush or flat boar bristle brush is best.

  • To tame flyaways spray a light hold hairspray onto a brush or hands and gently run it through areas of concern.

  • Apply an oil/serum to ends for additional shine or if the hair feels too stiff from the products.

  • Apply a generous amount to mid length and ends for a wet look.
